BankPDFtoXLS turns an ANZ statement PDF into a spreadsheet with the columns the statement prints, and it checks every balance on the way.

What an ANZ statement looks like

  • An ANZ statement has five columns: Date, Transaction Details, Withdrawals ($), Deposits ($) and Balance ($).
  • The date is printed as day and month, such as 28 JAN, with the year left to the statement's period. The spreadsheet keeps the date as printed.
  • The transaction details often run onto a second line, such as the reference of a transfer. The converter keeps that line in the same row, so each transaction is one row.
  • An OPENING BALANCE line starts the statement and comes through as a row of its own.

What the spreadsheet looks like

Date Transaction Details Withdrawals ($) Deposits ($) Balance ($) Ledger
27 JAN OPENING BALANCE 2,140.00 ok
28 JAN EFTPOS PURCHASE A CAFE 6.50 2,133.50 ok
31 JAN ANZ INTERNET BANKING TRANSFER WAGES A COMPANY 1,250.00 3,383.50 ok
01 FEB ACCOUNT SERVICING FEE 5.00 3,378.50 ok

The rows above are an example, not a real statement.

The file for Xero and QuickBooks gives each transaction its date in full, with the year the statement's period gives it.

How we test it

The converter is tested against two ANZ statements, eleven pages in all: 77 transactions, and every one of them balances against the row before it.

Convert an ANZ statement

  1. Drop the PDF into the converter on this page.
  2. Check page one in the preview. It is free, with no email and no card.
  3. Create an account to convert every page. The pricing page lists the plans.

To bring the transactions into your books, download the file for your accounting software from your list of statements: import it into Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent.

The PDF is deleted when its conversion finishes.

Other banks

The converter reads other banks' statements too. See every bank page.

Try it on one page first.

Page one of any statement converts free, before an email address or a card.
